Well, one of the stops in between was Townsville! But as for the rest, that's
the kind of thing I had in mind when I did my web search that started this
thread. I think REDeX was an oil or a fuel additive or something like that -
don't quote me on it though.

Enter the word "redex" (without the quotes) into the Search for Images
field.
This gives a number of images that helps to support Dave's comments about
the aircraft angle of the Redex Rally.

Only page 1 has the aircraft pictures.

alt.binaries.pictures.aviation seems to be the way to go to post some
pictures - looking forward to seeing them.

I am related to one of the pilots in this trial and have recently recieved
information.

The State Library of Queensland sent me copies newpaper clippings.

The tittle that I gave them to work on was "SMITHY" Era Man In Redex Air
Trial. This article was printed in the Queensland 'Courier Mail' in early
1954.

The 'Townsville Daily bulletin' and 'The Sydney Morning Herald' also
printed articles between July 30 & August 18 of 1954.

It is best to fill in as much information that you know when filling in
the online request form for the library.

I haven't tried the National Archive of Australia site yet but I will get
there eventually.
