"The Defence Department says two Hawk airplanes took off from Williamtown
Airport and were conducting training exercises when one of the pilots made an
emergency radio call.
The jet circled above Coffs Harbour Airport for more than half an hour, dumping
fuel before making an emergency landing just before midday (AEST).
The Defence Department will not say what caused the problem but two holes are
clearly visible on the front of the Hawk's left wing." ABC News

Well, that does it. I won't be buying any tickets to fly with the RAAF
in future.

Maybe a very close look at the other Hawk would be instructive.
Mind you, if they had transited through YPMQ there could be pelican bits
embedded. Nearly took one out myself the other day, at 2,500 feet. No
bloody strobes either ;-)
