Think is a great person to name this aircraft after well done QF
August delivery of first A380 for Qantas
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
With their assembly issues firmly in the past, Airbus is celebrating a
successful European test flight of the first A380 superjumbo for
Qantas.
The ongoing delays on deliveries seem to finally have been rectified,
as Qantas anticipates delivery of its A380 in August.
The superjumbo has been named the Nancy Bird Walton, after the 92-year
old founder of the Australia Women Pilots’ Association.
The test flight witnessed the A380 take flight above Toulouse, the
French headquarters of Airbus, and land two hours later, minus any
hazards or incidents, in Hamburg.
The 560-tonner aircraft was then rolled into a hangar for its final
fit-out, installing new seats, galleys and an entertainment system,
the Advertiser reports.
The bare metal of the jetliner will soon be transformed into the
iconic red and white of the Australian flag-carrier.
