From today's Herald-Sun newspaper:
"Both Mr Dixon and Mr Joyce said they had no intentions of changing the
configuration of the Qantas 450-seat A380 which had the lowest of the A380
seating densities so far announced.
"The Qantas A380 is arranged with 14 first class seats and 332 economy seats on
the main deck, and 72 business class and 32 premium economy seats on the upper
deck."
How does or will this seating compare with current B747 seating densities, and
in particular that of Economy class?

So, it's still very much cattle class, then.
I wonder how many extra FAs they'll run on these aircraft, and when boarding or
"de-boarding" will they force all pax through one exit or will the jet bridges
have two levels?

In the Age they say this:
"Qantas says the plane will offer higher levels of passenger comfort with more
space per seat"
It doesn't say specifically whether this is for all classes.
I s'pose we need to hear pax reports on it once it enters commercial service.
Of course if each pax can have their laptops connected you'd hope that there
will be more room to accomodate everyone doing that. Currently you're lucky to
have room for an Eeepc, let alone some of these 17" laptops that are now on the
market.

One problem with this aircraft is that airports have to invest very large
sums to cater for what will be only a few of the aircraft. So, whilst A380
gates are being built at the places they'll be going, there won't be vast
numbers of these gates (two in LA I believe), so it will be luck whether
one will be available or not. If you get such a gate, then yes, both decks
will load separately, but less capable gates, or even being remotely
parked, are very likely outcomes too.
Instead of reducing airport congestion, it can make it worse. The wing
span is so great that it impacts upon adjacent gates, so it may 'take'
more than one gate, or at least severely restrict what can be parked there.

A Meltdown? One of those annoying buzzwords. We prefer to think of it as an
unrequested fission surplus!

The 380 will operate with a total of 22 cabin crew including 1 customer
service manager, 3 First class crew, 8 Business Class, 2 Premium Economy
and 8 Economy.
That's a quote from the QF site....
