Qantas unveils new Premium Economy product
Friday, March 07, 2008

International-Premium-Economy

Qantas has become the latest airline to incorporate the Premium
Economy Product into their aircraft, yesterday unveiling the new range
soon to be employed across the B747-400 and A380 aircraft.

And it appears that the national carrier isn't dilly-dallying with the
product, initiating the first Boeing 747 with the product into service
today. Aircraft registration VH-OJK will operate today's QF127 Sydney-
Hong Kong service.

"We have invested significantly in developing this cabin, which is
being progressively installed across our B747-400 fleet and will be
available on every Qantas A380," said John Borghetti, Qantas Executive
General Manager.

"Qantas Premium Economy offers extra space and comfort and enhanced
levels of service."

I'll bet the hosties still dissapear with the wheels on t/o.

I't'll take more than a new seat to persuade me to fly with that lot if I
can avoid it.

I returned from sydney last night on the 19.20 747 and sat in 17k upstairs
and I have to tell you, it was CRAP.
I'm an average bloke, 5'11", 40 waist you know slim kinda bloke, and I "just
squeezed" into the seat, had to get out of it to access the remote control,
which in turn was found to be RS, the little bit of screen I did see was
fuzzy and colourless and would not stay on Ch12 either. Thankfully to took
a bottle of water on board, as it took an hour and ten minutes to get a
drink. I ordered perrier and got soda water. Much later, ordered "salmon
with green thai sauce" yeah right, bulk steamed salmon piece 3/4 " in
diameter and 2" long with overcooked greens adn carrots. We won't go into
the rice quality.
Crew where friendly enough and I guess the tried hard. AC was full

At last Qantas has recognised pax get no service from Qantas 'flight
attendants'.

So when you've got a window seat just face the fact you're going to have to
crawl over, wake up and generally make an arsehole of yourself to the poor
coots inboard of you while you canter off to get a glass of orange juice or
whatever. And do it again when you get back. Bloody marvelous.

Oh - and you'll pay extra for the privilege........
