QANTAS FF - buy share s now.

Date: Jul 1, 2008 15:35

This is an interesting snippet - how does that work? QANTAS is to sell
off the FF company which is owned by the present share holders.

Are they to offer the present share holders 1 for 3 shares in a new company?

From the SMH
http://www.smh.com.au/news/travel/stand-by-for-more-cuts-says-qantas/2008/07/01/1214678038242...

"The changes come as Qantas is considering selling part of its
internally run and wholly owned frequent flyers' company through a share
sale on the sharemarket. The move could raise more than $1 billion for
the group."

The same way that selling any other asset works.

All that happens is that the money raised goes into the cash reserves of
Qantas. They can then either use that money to fund other projects, leave it
sitting there, pay it as dividends or do whatever else they see fit.

Ok, I think I have it.
The numbers are simplistic I know, but is this how it works?
