Poll QANTAS engineers pay claims

Listening to the union spokesman this morning I am fast losing any
sympathy for the attitude of give us what we want or we strike stance.

It appears that a 3%% rise was on the table and rejected

They want 5%% take it or leave it ( they are not actually on a
poverty wage and set of tax effected conditions)
Compared to some other airlines.

personally I sense that they will end up with 3/8ths of bugger all in
teh end as Dixon will just send aircraft off shore to be serviced
(which is probably why he is playing hard ball with the unions any
way)

Thus this union stance to me is just plain dumb at this time.

Shades of Pilot strike where the companies won and pilots lost out
(although at that time I agreed and still do with them)

Opinions comments ?

ASU and TWU employees had to settle for 3%%, so why should the
engineers get more? BTW, they've increased their claim to 5.7%% and
will strike for 4 days next week.

Dixon must be heading the company in the right direction to keep it
profitable. Do you think that the engineers could do that individually
or as a collective body?

Why not? They have every right to push for whatever they think is fair,
regardless of what another group received.
