I know this is off-topic but I would prefer to post here rather than in,
say, aus.photo since the purpose of my purchase is because I'm getting
plenty of opportunity for air-to-air photos lately in some pretty unique
aircraft. I know GB and Glenn are just a couple of many digi photo fans so
hoping they and the rest of the group can offer some advice to a newbie.
I'm in the market for a camera that I'll grow into as I get more
proficient. I was looking at the Canon 40D which I don't really know much
about other than what I've read online - but from what I have read and a
very brief intro at Bing Lee from a guy that didn't know much at all it
seems like a great little camera. All advice is much appreciated.
Thanks. Brian.

You had better look up the specs od the D200 and the D300 to which it
refers.

Thanks very much GB. I'm very much a beginner but want a camera that i'll
grow into without overtaking in terms of features or functions and i don't
think i'll be doing that with the Canon in too much of a hurry. Your kind
advice cements my decision, so thank you.

Yep found that, fair enough, was not aware - sony must have used a
compact sensor and shoved it into a slr.
Lens choice is not great - "• Sony Alpha lenses
(also compatible with Minolta A-type bayonet mount lenses)"
Would not go out looking for a long lens.
