Hey, I have been busting my brain trying to remember the name of & find a
movie from years ago. IMDB ran cold.
It was (from memory) a delivery of a T 11 or similar Vampire (it was a 2
seater anyway) from England across Europe to I think, Italy and there was a
lot of scenery shot from the jet's view.
I remembered the name as 'European Delivery' for some reason.
I met a chap who actually flew and crashed one of these in 1946 and wanted
to offer him at least a movie's name - for him to see the movie of the era
he was flying in would be quite special. He described all the flight from
before takeoff to after he managed to crash land in a field. Amazing stuff
to hear an octogenarian relating such detail of his days in the cockpit.
Thanks in advance.
Jock

Was it "Sound Barrier"?
The Vampire sequence was a night flight to Cairo.
Produced in the early 1950s by David Lean of Dr Zhivago, Lawrence of
Arabia fame. Nigel Patrick, Ann Todd, Denholm Elliott, Ralph
Richardson etc
Some of the above could actually lay claim for better or worse, to
being pilots themselves.

Thanks for that Ned, that isn't the one - I remember seeing Sound Barrier -
good movie. Just have to keep digging around.
He was flying them as you say, when they first started out. There were a
great lot of fatalities due to their tumbling out of control on tight turns
and the fact they could not recover control in the freefall. The later
Vampire with two seats were a big improvement in that regard.
Thanks again,
Jock
