Mobile phones are in a special category for some reason. Unlike other
passenger gear, their use is not allowed at any time during flight, not
just during takeoff and landing.
Mind you, I'm happy to see their use remain banned, on whatever pretext.
Aircraft are one of the few remaining places where one can escape from
the damned things. A passenger sitting next to me while using their
mobile phone would be in serious danger of finding their oesophagus
acquire the same cross-section as the offending device.
