....I knew a guy (in Canada) that had a fully equipped IFR J3 with all
of the latest (at the time) Collins avionics.

He was quite anxious to get the right conditions to allow him to backup
the glideslope.

If I recall correctly, he was a rep for Collins.

Not much else to tell - that's about all there was to it - his J3 would
probably have only needed a 45kt wind. From memory, a J2 was something
like 50MPH over the fence and it'd float for quite a while at that.
