Hi Ned,

Was that 457 foreign pilots or foreign pilots under section 457 work visas?

The major trucking companies like Toll's have been trying to do the same
thing with heavy long haul road vehicles drivers too. Imagine the increased
dangers on Australian road users with of hundreds of drug affected and sleep
deprived Asian truck drivers running on our highways?

Chris,

On what evidence do you make the statements below in relation to drug
affected and sleep deprived Asian drivers?
Can you please furnish some credible quotes and sources?

Ah, but they're ASIANS you see.

It's irrelevant that they probably have a far more rigorous work ethic than
the locals............

Dependent on their country of origin.

The tendency to drive on the incorrect side of the road during lapses
of concentration and or long periods without sleep, one reason that
immediately springs to mind.

Clearly you didn't read my email posted about one hour prior the your
comment, when I said,

"No, I did not intend to imply that current Australian drivers are not drug
takers. My point was that it's bad enough that many of the current
Australian ones are far to often are found to drug affected and sleep
deprived after an accident. Added to the fact that many are forced to adhere
to unrealistic driving schedules or risk losing there next hauling job. Just
imagine how much worse it would be with people who have never lived or
worked hear before, have little understanding of our laws, their rights, our
language (remember the recent tourist bus crash investigation in the
Illawarra)."
