Indoor Skydiving

I just found this video link on ninemsn
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=341453 and wondered if there's
anything like this in Oz? I couldn't find anything on Google. The indoor
skydivers put on a fairly impressive demo and even though I'm a little
long in the tooth it's got me thinking about getting into the sport.

Not aware of any. My wife and I tried it in Las Vegas back in 85 and
it was a hoot. Cost about $20 for 5 minutes, which was a fair bit of
cash back then but it would cost you a hell of alot more to get 5
minutes of real freefall, ( about 5 jumps from 14,000 ft to be sure).
in terms of learning how to manouvre your body in free fall it is
essentially the same thing without the scenery ( and the risk)

Not sure if I have the right place - but this may help.
Looks like it is still a work-in-progress.

I rang the 1300 number on the web page and spoke to Cindy.
Apparently this is a work in progress & at this stage there are no known
sites operating in Australia (bugga! ...)

Pop over to Rotorua in NZ where you can do an outside version of this.
'Extreme Freefall'

That would be a hoot....

Wear a 'chute anyway and pop it when you're ready to leave.

Thanks for the link!

I rang the same number and got the Sydney Skydiving Centre. They said that
they're looking at getting something going in the second quarter of 2008.
I spoke to them about a course and may look at doing the freefall course
:) Now I have to convince the treasury that it's necessary which will be a
hard task given the $$$ I've just spent on aeros.

There used to one at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. About (maybe 15
years) ago I tried it. Great fun
