That depends on how hot or cold it is. If it is hot, 10 days is enough to
have got past the bloat stage, in other words bacteria and alike have eaten
enough to cause enough gas to pressurise the remains and it pops thus
releasing fluids.
Quite often it is the audible pop and the ensuing smell that alerts
neighbours.
Now if you are lucky they may died in bed and you haven't got there too late
and every thing (well almost ) is in the matress except for a bit of fluid
which has leaked on the floor.

Two pieces of lead around a few of grams each travelling at even sub-sonic
will do at close range. They should do the job. Do allot of local wildlife a
big favour too.
