the last time I actually landed at Rottnest Island was in a twin with
a weather radar that showed distinct blips for each of the aircraft in
the airspace ahead of us.

so if what you write above is true (and I believe it could be fixed by
telling avdata to bugger off) I cant see why the commercial rpt types
dont sort themselves out with airborne radar.

the prices you quote for these transcievers is a joke.
you are looking at an unnecessary avionics package in aircraft that
represents about a quarter of the aircraft value.

of course this is my main argument with these regulatory wankers.
none of them ever actually fly using their own money so the matter of
costs is an academic inconvenience to them.

*nothing* that these idiots have done in the last 10 years had had any
impact on aviation safety in this country.

the proposed adsb is actually a nonsense. the responses are easily
spoofed for one and the situation becomes more dangerous because no
transponder = total invisibility.
I do wish these people would live in the real world.

actually develop a real tangible technology for use in aircraft or
bugger off.

Stealth Pilot
(and for certain Saccas will chip in here but he hasnt flown pilot in
command in years ...in the last decade even? )
