How times have changed or political expediency?

In August 2007:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/investigations/probe-likely-into-hornet-purchase/2007/08/05/1186252546263...

In March 2008:

http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2007/s2191899.htm

Given Mr. Fitzgibbon's comments in the 730 Report vis a vis AIR VICE MARSHAL
PETER CRISS (RET), FORMER AIR COMMANDER, AUSTRALIA it's interesting to note:

It seems there wasn't much choice. Apparently, so the reports state,
it's too late to extend the F-111 past 2010 and we're unlikely to get
anything else before then.

Baloney! Defence themselves have put the number at $2.3 billion to life
extend the F-111 to fill the gap. Versus $6.6 billion for the Superbug - now
how does that make sense?
