Things are not happy at and near Canberra Airport.
The owners, courtesy of the selloff of government assets, have been able
to ignore all the local planning rules and work to fill the airport land
with shops and offices. This was never part of the city plan, so no
provision was ever made for this.
The owners then expect the city, as a whole, to foot the bill for most
of the additional infrastructure to sustain these developments.
In the resulting chaos, taxi drivers are not able to service the place
effectively, so incoming passengers have no transport.
The airport is getting a (quite justified) bad name...so, if you can
avoid the place (or drive) then it would be a good idea.

Was there last week and I concur with your obs, sadly Perth is 10 times
worse and getting even worse, imgine that. The sad part is though, everybody
knows it, local authorities, the state Governments and the Wallies who own
the airport. The must have known when the bought it that these problem would
occur as indeed did QF some time ago, yet both did absolutely bugger all.
But what can one do? Nothing, one has to fly one way or another.

Is Snow still trying to make Canberra INTERNATIONAL Airport the "2nd
Sydney Airport"?
I remember him making a push on that some years ago

Perth doesn't seem to have the same traffic woes of Canberra airport,
except for within the airport itself. The latter being due to the
rapicious nature of the operator with regard to parking. To me, it
seems almost inverted, with Canberra being OK at the terminal, but
terrible on the roads outside, and Perth easy enough to get to, but
the terminal area greatly mismanaged.

Brian, I believe Brindabella is the only active flying school left on
Canberra Airport, but they also have an RPT presence. Is it really that
much to ask that just -one school- refrain from training during periods
of high traffic?
I know plenty of pilots that are based out of Canberra and none have
any nice things to say about the airport management; who have
effectively forced GA operators into hiding. Perhaps AOPA should be
fighting for GA's survival in CB and the future of GA in the new
commercial (retail) airport culture instead of consuming their days
fighting for a lone Cessna 150 that's grounded from the circuit for only
a couple of hours every late afternoon. That
