Hardly a large investment.
5,539 shares at US$75.12 comes out at US$416,089 (AU$443,564)

That's a rounding error for an organistion like Macquarie.

You may dismiss it as insignificant if you wish.

The bit about "Macquarie join some 140 other funds managers bailing
out of Boeing" clearly eluded you.

I would have thought that when some 48%% of institutional shareholders
dump some or all of a company's stock it would catch at least some
people's attention.

And so it has - Boeing's stock has taken a beating - down 13%% since
the end of April and waaay below it's highs of 2007.

Rob, you might like to look a little further into the link provided by Ned,
there are a few good indicators there in relation to PAST stock trading and
the shareholders of the many companies listed. Makes for interesting
reading, though I am not sure as to the present day status quo other than
companies I have an interest in.
But yes, Ned, in light of the info he provided, is pretty well spot on, in
relation to Boeing. It is interesting for instance, the situation vis a
vis, Apple. I digress, but you get the drift.

Cheers,

Yagu

Nope. I didn't.
If they're of a similar magnitude in size then it's still peanuts.
If they sold, who bought?

Detailed facts man! I need facts!

Most unfavourably Rob.

Over the past 12 months the DJIA (the Dow) has only declined some 10%%.

Boeing OTOH, after initially outperforming the Dow has slumped some
25%% from it's starting point and close to 35%% down from those early
intermediate highs.

I reckon there's more than a few sleepless in Seattle tonight.

FWIW, my financial planner ditched all my US-based assets about 4 months
ago, and moved the funds into more secure (although less rewarding)
investments. IMHO, Boeing is just the most recent casualty (co-lateral
damage actually) by virtue of the fact it is based in the USA and
consequently over-exposed to the "credit crisis".

I'm not an economist though, and this is the interpreted, paraphrased
version of what my financial planner told me. Consequently, I may a few
of the finer points a little hazy.

Cheers,

James
