Not sure if they're up your way, but I have the home phone bundled with my
ADSL internet with AAPT.
On the internet side, I pay $40 a month for 1500kbps download and constantly
get about 1300kbps, and the download limit is 15Gig a month. I've never come
close to busting the limit. If I do, they just throttle the speed back to a
slower speed. (I think it's 500kbps, but don't quote me! Might even be
56kbps, but it's only til the new billing moinmths starts anyway.)
The only issue IU have is that iof you want to call and speak to someone,
expect to be on hold for at least 40 minutes. Apart from that, they are
great. Always been able tpo fix any issue I've had.

You do need an ISP - but it doesn't (AFAIK) matter which one.

Graham,
I was with exetel for a year, but they did not offer news groups, so I
switched to Internode. I am very happy with them. They do offer VOIP
via Nodephone and also naked ADSL.
Recommend them highly.

since my last input on this subject, following numerous issues with iiNet,
have moved to Amnet here in Perth.
I am pleased to note that my speeds are now 2500kbs higher and the latency
has now reduced to an acceptable 12ms ping rather than the 30 odd with
iiNet.
