It seems to me the best place to keep air superiority fighters during an
air raid is in the air, ripping chunks out of the enemy bombers as they
were designed to do.

Hiding them in concrete bunkers during the very event for which they
were developed is like keeping your fastest runners in a prison cell
during the Olympic Games.

Last time I went down the hill the carport was still in use at Amberley.
A long time ago I watched them get the F111s out of it in a hurry. They
can do it quite smartly. The carport works pretty good for that.

No doubt there would be some aircraft parked in the carport if things
got hot. Others would be at camouflaged dispersal points. we ought to
take a leaf out of the Serb manual and have a bunch of dummy aircraft in
camouflaged dispersal points too. The Serbs managed to preserve most of
their armour from US air raids with that technique.

The fix for Aussie strike power is the F-35B.

That can can strike a target many thousands of miles away from its
land base. (Called a port for some reason.)

How will an F-35B in Australian service strike a target many thousands
of miles away? The maximum range is 900nm with a combat radius of
600nm. Is Australia also going to purchase tankers?
