What do you guys think of the ATC problems which are in the news at the moment?

Certainly there appears to be a fair bit of spin, buck tossing and Sir
Humphrey-isms flying around the place.

It would seem at face value that the airlines should be eligible for a
discount on their air navigation charges when Air Services Australia are
incapable of providing a full Air Traffic Control service.

Surely they should have foreseen a shortage of controllers coming up and
done something about it a year or so back?

Here's another article on the subject.

Air Services Australia made a $106.7 million after tax profit year ending
2007 - perhaps some of this should have gone to Controllers?

which without looking it up) ...

One of Victoria's government instrumentalities is charged with the making safe
of our roads and returns on a regular basis multi million dollar profits as a
dividend to the state government. Meanwhile, we get, for our dough, bullshit
road safety adverts which only those who make them benefit (and the people who
manage the accounts with their backhanders). Then to ad insult to injury, those
who are injured in vehicle crashes are given the runaround when the most need
this august body's help.

alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views.
Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that
needs altering
