Biggin's fees seem high by comparison with others in the UK now. I never
paid Biggin's landing fee during my training so I don't know what it was
back then.

But I remember paying landing fees in the range of several pounds at
other airfields, and we're talking nearly thirty years ago.

I suspect it's just how things panned out. People who are used to paying
extortinate fees aren't surprised by them.

Then again, I've no idea of the real cost of providing a landing
service. Maybe Darwin's light aircraft users are actually being
subsidised by others.
