I recently had cause to send an email to Airservices' accounts
receivable address:

G'Day,

I have received an account for VH-BDQ which according to your records
landed at Darwin on 7th May 2008 at 0904.

BDQ is a 62-year old Auster, with a Gypsy Major engine (which has to
be hand-started) and NO TRANSPONDER. I am sure had we landed at Darwin
this would have been a subject for local comment as we would have had
to request a special dispensation to do so, and she would have been a
fine sight among the military hardware and the intercontinental jet
transports.

However, I can reliably inform you that VH-BDQ, which is based at
Callington, South Australia, was securely tucked into her hangar and
did not, in fact, fly at all during May, 2008, let alone to Darwin.

Flying to Darwin in our dear old ragwing would be an interesting
exercise, assuming that we didn't get wrapped up in wake turbulence,
tripped up by the arrestor wires, or blown up against the fence by
someone taxiing their 767!!
