Hi All
I am trying to decide between an ONKYO or Yamaha receiver. Initially I
wasn't too concerned about upscaling as I don't have a True HD
Projector (yet), but I watched a mates new Yamaha upscaleing a DVD the
other day and it was mighty impressive .... obviously watching blue-
ray was better, but I was staggered a DVD could look so good on a 4m
screen.
So, now I want to make sure that whatever reciever I buy will do as
good a job as possible on my DVD's when I upgrade the projector.
Thoughts and opinions welcome.
Cheers
Chops

I'm aware many of you would be able to answer a problem I have with my audio
hook-up.
This is the componentry of the audio only that the problem lies in.
Sony Bravia 1080P with 3 HDMI inputs and one optical/digital out and 3 audio
L&R inputs analogue
Sony DVD palyer with no HDMI out but optical/digital audio out and 2 audio
L&R outputs analogue
Sharp Blu-Ray player with HDMI output - no problem
Austar set top box with 2 audio L&R outputs analogue - NO digital out
Strong PVR with optical digital out
Pioneer HD (hard drive NOT high Def) DVD Recorder with optical out.
All this to go into a Sony amp with one optical/digital audio input and many
analogue inputs R&L.
What is the best way to "hook" this system up. I have come unstuck by
plugging all audio outputs into the Bravia 1080P and taking the optical out
from the Bravia to the optical input of the Sony amp. What has happened
though, is the HDMI works fine but obviously as the rest are connected via
R&L analogue, it is not coming out of the optical from the Bravia to the
amp. I await your best solutions.

Here are the great stuff of Vivitek introduces its very first
projectors....
Displays Just what the world needs — another pair of perfectly average
projectors to choose from. Vivitek has boldly gone where so many
others have gone before by introducing the D326MX (XGA) and D326WX
(WXGA) projectors, both of which rely on Texas Instruments’ DLP engine
and boast rapid start-up / instant shutdown features

come home from work yesterday and the volume has gone on my amp i have
to turn it all the way up just to hear something at a soft to normal
volume. Is this the sign of a dying amp or is there something that i
could try to do?
Regards
Chris
