Cerberus will bei Sicherheitsfirma Blackwater einsteigen
Verhandlungen über den Kauf von Anteilen im Wert
von 200 Millionen Dollar

New York - Die private Beteiligungsgesellschaft Cerberus
Capital Management plant einen Einstieg bei der Sicherheits-
firma Blackwater USA, wie der Fernsehsender ABC am
Mittwoch meldete. Cerberus sei in Verhandlungen über
den Kauf von Blackwater-Anteilen im Wert von
200 Millionen Dollar.

Blackwater wurde unter anderem im Irak zum Schutz von
US-Einrichtungen und -Diplomaten engagiert. Das Unter-
nehmen ist in die Kritik geraten, weil seine Mitarbeiter
im September 17 irakische Zivilisten erschossen hatten.

Cerberus kontrolliert den Autohersteller Chrysler und
besitzt 49 Prozent des Finanzunternehmens

Islamforscher Jørgen Bæk Simonsen war heute als zeuge aufgerufen in einem
[weiteren] prozess über die Mohammed-zeichnungen.

Der islamforcher Jørgen Bæk Simonsen, Københavns Universitet, hätte heute
vor dem Vestre Landret in Viborg eine erklärung abgeben sollen zum vorteil
für die moslemischen vereinigungen, die sich von den Mohammed-zeichnungen
von Jyllands-Posten [JP] gekränkt fühlen und darum einen zivilprozess gegen
die zeitung angestrengt haben wegen verleumdung und äusserungen der
geringachtung.

Aber er erschien nicht. Ursprünglich war er gestern als zeuge terminiert
worden, aber dieser punkt war im voraus auf heute verlegt worden, aber ohne
dass er also erschien. Gemäss advokat Michael Christiani Havemann, vertreter
der vereinigungen, wegen durcheinander in der mail-korrespondenz.

Asian 'village politics' and its effect on postal voting

Election fraud driven by immigrants practising "village politics" of the
Indian sub-continent could be a crucial factor in deciding the future
control of Birmingham City Council, a major report warns today.

Family loyalties, the dominance of men and the existence of the "biraderi"
clan system among British Asians provides perfect conditions for widespread
rigging of postal votes and other electoral malpractice in Britain's major
cities, according to the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. In a 94-page report
called Purity of Elections in the UK - Causes for Concern, the trust argues
that the UK's election system is close to breaking point and at risk of
fraud, as the countdown to May's local elections gets under way.

The study says the turning point in recognising Britain has a problem with
election fraud came in 2005 when a court found six Birmingham Labour Party
members in Aston and Bordesley Green, all Asian men, guilty of tampering
with thousands of postal ballots.

The incident, which Elections Commissioner Richard Mawrey QC said would
"disgrace a banana republic", forced the Government to tighten regulations
surrounding postal voting, but the reforms were nowhere near tough enough
according to the authors of today's report.

The least one can say is that they pretty much succeeded: there is no
longer a student who knows who Danton or Marat were, who can distinguish a
Romanesque church from a wash house, or who can even say who Lenin and Mao
were. Students today use history in the same way as their elders: history is
good only insofar as it proposes imperfect rough drafts of our modernity.
