Author: Michael Laudahn eOpposition
Date: May 3, 2008 14:11

A millionaire businessman today won permission to launch a High Court
challenge over the Government's refusal to hold a referendum on the EU
Reform Treaty (the Lisbon Treaty).

Stuart Wheeler, a major Conservative Party donor, claims that he had "a
legitimate expectation" that Gordon Brown would hold a vote.

The Government's decision to "resile from their promise" should be declared
unlawful, he said.

Mr Justice Owen, sitting at London's High Court, ruled today that Mr
Wheeler, 73 - who made more than

gegriffen worden - Er starb an seinen schweren Verletzungen

Wien - Der 64-jährige Bezirkspolitiker Gottfried Natschläger aus
Wien-Währing ist tot. Er war am 23. April von Jugendlichen at-

Saudi women had more rights at the time of the Romans than today

Author: Michael Laudahn eOpposition
Date: May 3, 2008 08:46

This is shown by a book written by a female scholar and published in Great
Britain. At that time, they are able to run businesses; while today, at a
discussion of work for women in Riyadh, all of the women were in another
room.

Arab women had more rights at the time of the Romans than they have today.
At that time, in fact, their capacity to conduct their own economic affairs
was recognised, which is not true in Saudi Arabia today. This is maintained
by a female Saudi scholar, Hatoon al-Fassi, in a book entitled "Women In
Pre-Islamic Arabia", published by British Archaeological Reports.

Barred from teaching at King Saud University in 2001, the scholar has
examined the situation of Nabataea, a kingdom that at the beginning of the
Christian era included parts of modern-day Jordan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia,
and had its capital in Petra. Here, Fassi maintains, women were able to
conduct business, without even the form of "protection" required by Greek
tradition in these matters. In her opinion, it is precisely because of the
lack of understanding on the part of Islamic scholars of the influences of
Greco-Roman legislation on sharia that the limited rights and freedoms for
women have arisen.

Dänemark: 'Rønn-Hornbech weist koran-forderung von DF zurück'

Author: Michael Laudahn eOpposition

http://jp.dk/indland/indland_politik/article1333431.ece

anforderungen an moslems verschärfen will.

Wisdom Found in Science Fiction
Author Robert Heinlein Credited for Life Lessons

It's not too late for New Year's resolutions. (I know because I haven't
delivered my last Christmas gift yet!) Longtime readers of The Morning News
should know these words by heart, though, because I reprint them every year.
They originally belonged to the father of science fiction, Robert Heinlein.

Heinlein almost certainly didn't consider excerpts from the notebooks of his
most famous character, Lazarus Long, "resolutions." He denied they were
wisdom, for that matter. But his approach to life has colored so many of my
attitudes about so many things, and what he wrote in "Time Enough for Love"
(1973) is better than anything I could ever think up myself.

So, with hat tipped to the late Mr. Heinlein, who is, I hope, bellied up to
a bar somewhere in Boondock, I give you these borrowed words to live by as
the holidays of 2007 roll into the doldrums of January 2008:

* Certainly the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you; if you don't bet,
you can't win.

* Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why.
Then do it.
