Description: Responsible for information system design, analysis, programming, unit testing and documentation, in support of business requirements, using industry and company standard methodologies and tools.

Key Accountabilities

Day to Day Support: • Provide extensive technical application support in alignment with organizational role. • Provide after hours support for those applications that have a 24 x 7 SLA as part of the on call rotation. • Collaborate with other ITS team members, providing technical expertise, to facilitate timely and accurate resolution of customer issues. • Performs root cause analysis when solving problems and implements solutions that will prevent the problem from reoccurring. Policies, Procedures and Standards: • Collaborate with Team Lead on design reviews and obtain approval to proceed with development. • Collaborate with Team Lead on code reviews and obtain approval to proceed with required user testing • Supports all ITS and Business Solutions policies and procedures, ensuring 100%% compliance. • Supports all American Water application architecture, design, construction, documentation and testing standards, including those of packaged application software supported by ITS. Technical Requirements and Design: • Documents technical requirements in approved format. • Delivers technical designs that support business requirements, are data driven, and are supportable within our support structure. • Collaborates with other ITS departments to deliver a holistic design that aligns with AW strategy and standards. • Delivers documentation according to defined standards. • Follows proper life cycles for software development.. Project Requirements: • Supports Project Management Office methodologies. • Project estimations and business cases as required (cost & time) • Leads application development projects/enhancements involving 1-4 developers, including scheduling of assignments and execution of tasks, while ensuring delivery on schedule. This role requires execution of ones own tasks and the leadership of other developers.

Skills

Database DB2 UDB on System I, Oracle, MS SQL Server Programming/Unit Testing .Net, MS Sharepoint 2.0 or higher & development skills creating workflows, forms, and sites with Windows SharePoint Services, MOSS, MS-OFFICE tools, .NET, Visual Studio, and SQL-Server. XML, HTML, DHTML, ASP.NET, C#, VB Net, ASP, Java Script, style sheet/CSS, AJAX, WCF, WWF, InfoPath 2007, SharePoint Designer 2007 Interpersonal Leadership: • Ability to work on complex programs and systems with minimal supervision, strong analytical and verbal skills; instructional skills to provide guidance to lower-level programmers. • Good Communication Skills, both written and oral • Ability to interface with technical and non-technical people providing insight, ideas and logic behind development cycle. • Effective participation in meetings and design sessions. • Balance independent problem solving with proactive, organized requests for support from more experienced team members. • Develop good working relationships with customers. • Develop solid technical foundation and good working knowledge of company products and technologies. • Proactively seek to expand knowledge and supplement skills through appropriate use of books, manuals, and other materials for self-study and point of need training.

Knowledge

Five to eight years systems analysis/design and programming knowledge in an enterprise system environment. Advanced technical knowledge of systems analysis and design. Knowledge of all phases of applications programming; software systems programming; company operations and unit testing. Knowledge of the following is a plus: Rational Test Manager Rational Clear Quest Rational Clear Case MKS Implementer Middleware Utility Industry
