Description: Reporting to the Associate Vice President of University Systems, the Director Applications Systems Development will be responsible for the establishment and oversight of application architecture, supervise and coordinate the data warehouse team, the Crystal Enterprise application lead, and central report writing teams. The incumbent will also oversee and control projects assigned to these teams to ensure their success. In addition, the director will have primary responsibility for setting standards across the groups in the areas of company's-wide data definition and data modeling, metadata collection within the warehouse, stored procedures, and reporting architecture. The director will also coordinate user support for enterprise reporting, and participates with senior management in the creation of applications systems architecture. Acts as reporting manager for all sub-function heads. Responsible for the capabilities and configuration of the technical team and its preparedness to meet the IT requirements. Has responsibility and oversight for all hiring/firing decisions. Sets performance objectives for groups. Regularly provides guidance, and coaching to team members for performance and career development.


Represents the group to senior management across client organizations. Maintains sponsorship support for all infrastructure, systems and applications initiatives. Negotiates contracts and maintains vendor relationships. Provides vendor organizations performance feedback. Sets expectations for and actively fosters constructive problem solving and collaboration between team members at all levels. Collaborates with customer groups to define future solutions.


The Director translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the enterprise level. Development Draws on experience and/or expert resources with in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide university-wide solutions, by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction. Participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve solutions.


Accountable for establishing assessment methodologies, strategies, and standards. Accountable for the company's assessment capabilities and configuration. Assesses all project requirements and their impact to the technology platform and business objectives. Provides sponsorship for analysis initiatives.


-Draws on experience and/or expert resources with in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide solutions, by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications.


-Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction.


-Participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve solutions.


-Accountable for budgets of Applications Systems' development, implementation and maintenance needs.


-Translates business solutions into realistic technology and workforce estimates and supporting associated ROI and cost benefit analyses.


-Analyzes labor/service charges against estimates and reconciles differences to improve future estimation and management of resources.


-Acts as reporting manager for all sub-function heads.


-Sets direction and goals for sub-function.


-Represents sub-functions to senior management.


-Holds hire/fire responsibility.


Bachelor's degree or relevant experience


-7 years' related work experience


-Experience with Crystal Enterprise.


-Experience implementing data warehousing architectures.


-Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.


Experience in problem identification and resolution.


-Expert level experience in all relevant applications design and development languages, methodologies and tools.


-Expert knowledge of information technologies


-Demonstrated organizational and larger project management


-Demonstrated functional leadership
