Description WWD.com, a leading fashion and business news website, is seeking aSenior News Editor. This individual reports to the Managing Editor of WWD.com, and is responsible for overseeing news coverage for the website. Responsibilities include coordinating with print-oriented business editors, delivering competitive international news online, and interacting with various department heads and beat reporters to keep home pages and landing pages fresh in a 24/7 cycle via news, analysis and market features. The ideal candidate will have relevant, senior level experience in an online news environment, with 3-5 years experience writing, reporting, and editing news content using online content management systems. An understanding of the urgency of news delivery, and depth of features and archives, as well as the ability to balance editorial and business objectives is essential. Candidates should have a basic understanding of web technologies and current trends in web publishing (HTML, XML, RSS, Web 2.0, SEO); a clear understanding of web metrics to evaluate all editorial initiatives; the ability to experiment with new content formats and content promotion strategies to increase traffic and conversion rates; experience optimizing headlines and copy for SEO; and the ability to editorially program homepages and landing pages for maximum page views.
