Canoe Ventures provides technology solutions that leverage cables two-way infrastructure for unprecedented message precision, engagement, interactivity, reach and measurability, and it helps networks tap into the power of cable so they can provide most effective and efficient marketing solutions for advertising clients, ultimately, changing the way viewers use TV. SCOPE: Reporting to the CTO, the VP of MSO Systems Technology is responsible for ensuring that all required Canoe capabilities are deployed in participating MSOs within the agreed upon timeframe and in compliance with the specified interfaces and service level agreements. To achieve this, the VP of MSO Systems Technology must provide leadership in the following areas: . Serve as the primary technical liaison between Canoe and all participating MSO technical teams . Own the operational guidelines, interfaces specifications and Service Level Agreements between Canoe and the MSOs ("the line") . Own and maintain the system capabilities assessments from participating MSOs . Serve as a technical interface to cable industry associations and standards bodies . Build and manage the required team of Canoe resources to support these activities The VP of MSO Systems Technology will need to quickly establish the cross-MSO communication structures and processes critical to defining and maintaining harmonized deployment plans, common interfaces and standards , and accurate system capabilities assessments. The successful candidate must possess an in-depth understanding of cable delivery platforms, organizational structures and deployment processes and their variability across MSOs. The position requires a broad, system-wide technical foundation coupled with outstanding interpersonal skills required to gain cross-MSO consensus on myriad technical and operational issues. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Lead the technical liaison between Canoe and all participating MSO technical teams . Establish one on one relationships with MSO technical leadership in the CTO, CIO, Policy and System Test organizations as well as within the system divisions. . Facilitate both formal and informal communications and relationships between Canoe and each of the participating MSOs . Prepare presentations for regular project updates, Canoe internal and MSO project reviews and Canoe Board of Directors and Advisory board meetings. . Clearly communicate the Canoe roadmap and expectations for MSO compliance and product-specific execution and support . Understand the status of each MSOs roll-out plans, hurdles and mitigation strategies . Provide input on the product roadmap, especially driven by MSO delivery system readiness . Provide bi-directional communications (Canoe/MSOs) on key technical issues and their impact on the CAAS and MSO Systems . Socialize technical solutions, gain support from the MSO organizations and communicate asks and/or requirements from MSOs to Canoe. 2. Own the communication of & compliance with operational guidelines, interface specifications and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between Canoe and MSOs (the line") . Support the initial development and ongoing support of all critical technical interfaces at system and application levels . Communicate and enforce all operating guidelines and SLAs between NewCo and participating MSOs, including the on-boarding of MSOs 3. Own and maintain capability assessments from participating MSOs . Develop and maintain the templates and frameworks for gathering capability assessment data supporting Canoe products . Manage the process for gathering system capabilities surveys from each MSO . Define a process for securely maintaining the confidentiality of survey responses from each MSO. . Work with the enterprise architecture team to evolve these processes into an automated end-to-end system for the capture, storage and processing of capability data from MSOs . Develop, maintain and enforce an on-boarding process for adding new Canoe capable MSOs and systems. 4. Serve as a technical interface to cable industry and standards associations . Provide the primary technical interface between Canoe and CableLabs. Ensure that roles and expectations are clearly communicated and help to jointly defined the necessary processes and procedures. . Help move the vendor community toward adoption of Canoe de-facto standards 5. Build and manage necessary Canoe resources . Work with the CTO to define the required organizational structure and assist in recruiting employees and/or hiring of contractors . Manage the MSO Systems Technology team QUALIFICATIONS: . Deep understanding of MSO engineering and IT organizations and established relationships with leadership personnel within the participating MSOs. . A thorough understanding of video and high speed data delivery platforms within cable systems. . Proven leadership and management of system deployment projects at or for MSOs. . Ability to anticipate, communicate and mitigate potential project risks. . Experience with CableLabs standards and specification work. . Excellent written and verbal communication skills. . Strong negotiation and facilitation skills with cross-MSO technical teams. . Possession of a broad, system-wide view.
