Position Purpose: PURPOSE: The Global Middle Office is to provide independent and effective on-site monitoring, controlling and communicating on the nature and extent of all material market, credit and operational risk positions and to ensure the implementation of and compliance with risk management policies. Key Accountabilities: KEY RESULT AREAS: Market Risk Oversight . Monitor trading activities and exposures (VaR, greeks, stress tests, etc) to ensure they are within approved policies and limits; . Investigate risks to ensure accuracy and sign-off on results; initiate reruns where necessary; . Develop and produce independent risk reports for trading and senior management actively leveraging the capabilities of GMRM; . Identify supplementary risk measures and controls required at the trading desk level; . Review and obtain appropriate approvals of non-traditional transactions requiring exceptions to risk management policies; . Ensure proper booking of non-traditional transactions; . Maintain non-traditional transaction register and experimental pool, including periodic reports to appropriate committees; . Evaluate regulatory capital for portfolios/products that are not captured within the Value-at-Risk framework; Valuation . Independently value or validate prices used in the valuation of equity derivative trading portfolios. . Perform detailed bi-monthly price verification for dealer-supplied rates. . Approve independent rate sources for daily mark-to-market. . Analyse equity derivative trading portfolio and recommend appropriate reserves. . Ensure that all material market risk models are independently vetted and certified before the commencement of trading. Risk Analytics/Transaction Facilitation . Provide quantitative analytical support to the business on complex derivative transactions and new business initiatives; . Analyse daily profit/loss of the equity derivative portfolios and communicate the drivers of profit/loss to senior management; Job Requirements: (Knowledge/ Experience): KEY LATERAL RELATIONSHIPS: . STAFFING REQUIREMENTS: . MBA, MA, MS or equivalent with emphasis in finance, economics or a quantitative discipline. . Solid understanding of trading products and the principles of derivative market risk. . Strong written and oral communication skills. . Minimum 2 years experience working in a credit or market risk function. . Strong software development skills and experience in applying finance-related computational techniques.
