Description: Description: The Vice President of Corporate Communications for the Legal Division will take a leadership role in the external and internal communications strategy for the Legal Division. The Communications VP will report to the Chief Communications Officer and will directly support the General Counsel of Pfizerâ• Ts Legal Division in advancing Pfizer issues through the media and other communications. Responsibilities: â• a Use legal analysis and speechwriting skills to communicate issues facing the Legal Division both internally and externally. Will be required to provide meaningful legal analysis and information on issues facing the General Counselâ• Ts office to the following audiences, among others: Pfizer colleagues, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, legal and pharmaceutical industry groups, government agencies and media/press; must be able to advise interested parties on how issues affect the Legal Division and impact the business â• a Support the overall media engagement strategy of Pfizer and ensure that the General Counsel and other spokespersons are advised and prepped on up- to-date issues affecting the Legal Division and also ensure that prepped Pfizer personnel are available as frequent sources for reporters; â• a As part of a multi-disciplinary communications team, and under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer and the General Counsel, work to develop a communications strategy and public message for issues, both legal and non-legal, facing Pfizer Inc and/or the pharmaceutical industry as a whole â• a Develop and maintain relationships with select reporters and oversee the press contact database â• a Respond to press/media inquiries and oversee responses to such inquiries working in close collaboration with the head of the media office; â• a Supervise department staff and manage departmentâ• Ts budget; â• a Initiate, draft and supervise the dissemination of press releases, letters-to-the-editor, and guest opinion editorials; â• a Oversee the production of internal communications work including quarterly newsletter, website copy, annual report, Board communications and related materials. â• a Maintain an interactive web page to communicate up-to-date information on legal issues facing the corporation and news in general from the corporate legal department to its global team. Qualifications: â• a An undergraduate or graduate degree in English, Communications or Journalism strongly preferred â• a At least 10 years of experience in journalism, corporate communications or related experience. Global experience a plus. â• a J.D. strongly preferred and strong legal analysis background is required â• a Prior legal experience as a practicing attorney at a top law firm or corporation; prior legal experience in the pharmaceutical industry context strongly preferred â• a Knowledge of legal issues facing the pharmaceutical industry, financial markets and understanding of annual reports and written corporate communications required â• a Strong leadership, teamwork and management skills required. â• a Must have demonstrated experience handling internal and external communications in crisis context â• a Must have the ability to align communications relating to Legal Division with the overriding goals and policies driven by Pfizerâ• Ts enterprise communications organization â• a Must have superior oral, written and public presentation skills; must have prior experience communicating with senior management â• a Must demonstrate strong initiative and a strong sense of urgency to meet commitments and deliver results within a specified and often short time frame Benefits: Throughout our 153 years, a legacy of caring for others has been at the heart of everything we do at Pfizer.
