Position is responsible for directing an integrated communications strategy that identifies key messaging which drives high performance behaviors, associate engagement, and strong emotional ties to business objectives.. Responsible for communication across 3 divisions of Saks Fifth Avenue, a 3.4 billion dollar company. Primary responsibility is for full line stores and Saks Direct. This position will communicate programs and achievements to motivate employees toward positive business results and a strong selling culture
Responsibilities include: Identifying and developing communication strategies for initiatives, events, programs and key messages. Provide strategic tactical communication support to the senior leadership team through the creation of executive presentations and company-wide messaging around annual objectives, plans and strategies. Identify and communicate with key business partners to ensure we promote an attitude of teamwork and collaboration to achieve business results. Participate on cross-functional teams and educate internal business partners on key messages and communication strategies. Develop, innovate and implement process and procedures for more efficient communication to meet the needs and expectations of the intended audience. Drive organizational change initiatives through internal communications strategies. Market Saks’ HR brand/ employment value proposition and best practices through frequent, consistent and memorable communication platforms. Manage diverse communication programs including conferences, leadership councils, town halls. Support organization in driving a service and selling culture through creative, high quality product knowledge programs and multi media presentations. Develop new and innovative approaches for communicating throughout the company including introduction of new technology (internet broadcasting, web POS direct) and creative company meetings. Ensure direct, personalized and informal feedback through senior executive outreach programs. Leverage partnerships with marketing, IT and other PR and communication areas to drive strong results. Requirements Knowledge – level of education required, special certifications or licenses • B.S. or B.A. in Advertising, Communications, or English. • Master’s desired. Skills – job specific knowledge and abilities, general business acumen, other required skills • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization • Strategic thinker; able to think outside the box and drive innovation • Superlative writing and editing skills • Excellent organizational skills, good judgment, and attention to detail. • Knowledgeable and experienced in product design for all forms of internal communications media (i.e. print, video, web) • Ability to balance short- and long-term project deadlines, manage changing priorities, and work well under pressure. • Strong interpersonal skills
Experience – level or related/unrelated work experience, number of years in prior jobs • 5 – 7 years relevant employee communications experience. • Experience in electronic/web management, print, video production, special events. • Experience deploying communication solutions to impact employee engagement levers. • Experience managing/building a luxury brand
Competencies – technical or other skills such as position specific software, financial skills, leadership, team building, training • Gets results; able to think through obstacles • Proficient knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Basic knowledge of html a plus. • Strong customer focus • Managerial courage
