The Role Bloombergs Ticker Plant team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced C++ software developer to work on our ultra high performance databases. Our team has been instrumental in Bloomberg winning the "Best Market Data Provider" award from Waters magazine five years in a row. A successful candidate will join this award-winning team to help create and innovate solutions to better harness our infrastructure and the power of our machines and will be working on taking our software to the next performance level. Our real-time software runs on some of the worlds most powerful machines (IBM P595, Fujitsu PrimePower 2500 or the latest SUN M9000 all with 64 symetric multi-threaded cpus and up to 500gigabytes of memory). It can handle upwards of 15,000 transactions a second, process 300,000 updates a second and broadcast 1.3 million updates a second simultaneously. Qualifications * BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field * 3+ years hand-on C++ development experience * Experience with source control * Experience with UNIX Operating System/ commands * Solid Understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms and Object Oriented design * Experience with Unit/ Regression testing * Excellent communication skills both verbal and written * Strong multitasking skills and ability to prioritize workloads * Knowledge of scripting in the UNIX environment (shell, PERL, PYTHON) * Experience with real-time feeds is a plus * Knowledge of Financial markets is a plus * Strong technical aptitude to learn, understand, and explore Bloombergs various infrastructures
