Description: Job Title: Territory Manager Requisition #: BF3678 Area of Interest: Sales Business Division: The Book People Wkly Std Hours: 37.5 Days Per Week: Std Work Week (Mon - Fri) Position Type: Full-Time Regular City: New York - SoHo State: New York Description: Scholastic has recently developed a new Corporate / Hospital Book Fair Division, with the mission of bringing quality educational books and gift items to Corporations and Hospitals. Our products include name brand books for children and adults across a variety of subject matter including: Books for children of all ages - books on Cooking, Inspirational subjects, History, Sports, Games and Crafts. . . In addition, we carry gift products such as Music CDs, Computer Software, DVDs and Organizers and offer practical gift giving solutions to business people in the workplace. The Territory Manager is responsible for increasing The Corporate / Hospital Book Fair Division market penetration to meet or exceed revenue per event goals as well as total revenue. The longer-range goal will be for this person to ascend to the role of Sales Manager.
* Responsible for making telephone solicitations, customer based outside "cold calls" and professional presentations to prospective customers. * Meet or exceed budgeted number of events run and revenue per event goals. * Evaluate ongoing market and sales information reports to determine trends and performance. From this continued analysis, plan and organize the work to achieve business goals. * Develop, communicate, and manage sales and service strategies based on securing and growing tier 1 customers, achieving budgets, and overcoming competition. * Continually monitor customer program participation ensuring that all established goals are met, customer satisfaction remains high, and ensure communication adds value to customer base. * Develop expertise in The Book People business including product mix, merchandising, and customer value programs. * Use company computer applications and sales processes to obtain thorough and updated customer information. * Work effectively in situations involving shifting priorities and rapid change, demonstrating ability to cope well with trying circumstances. * Attend conventions, exhibits and customer events, as needed. * Create customer loyalty by understanding customer motivation, expectations, and needs. Deliver on customer commitments, help to remove barriers to customer service, and ensure exceptional customer experiences. * Hire, develop, motivate, and retain sales force to achieve goals set forth in all sales metric categories. Set clear performance goals (daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonally), coach, develop, and review performance to achieve goals. (This will be achieved as revenue growth increases) * Maintain business confidentiality relative to pricing, inventory, promotion, competition, distribution, staffing, customers and financial data. Requirements: 1. BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or related field. 2. A minimum of two (2) years of proven successful sales experience in district/territory sales, event management, personal selling, and customer service. 3. Supervisory experience a plus. 4. Proven experience to meet company goals by adding value for customers through products and services offered. 5. Proven ability to build and grow revenue/quantitative financial and sales analysis skills, including metric analysis. 6. Strong oral and written communication and speech/technical presentation abilities. 7. Demonstrated customer orientation. 8. Outstanding interpersonal skills with customers, direct reports, peers, supervisors (cross functional and throughout the organization) and other partners.
