Description The Business Information Group (BIG) is part of McGraw-Hill’s Information and Media Services segment. BIG provides business information in the energy, construction and aviation markets. BIG is comprised of Platts, McGraw-Hill Construction and Aviation Week. The BIG IT group is currently in search of Technical Leads in a Java/J2EE/Unix environment and/or in a .NET/WinTel environment. The Technical Lead works with Project Managers in the successful completion of projects against scope definition, timeline, budget and quality of deliverables. This role will require knowledge of project management, software design, and software development lifecycle. This is part of the Web & Delivery group of BIG IT and will be key contributor to the design and implementation of our application development and delivery strategy. The Technical Lead role is responsible for successful project completion against business objectives, project scope, software design/architecture, timeline, budget, customer satisfaction, and quality. This includes development cost and timeline estimation, software design, technical Role and Responsibilities: . Technical Lead for large, complex, and multiple concurrent customer facing web based software development projects . Project communications, cost/resource estimation, software design/development, technical Lead onsite/offshore development teams and ensure all development team project milestones and deadlines are met . Translate business process based requirements and business rules for system development . Lead web applications, web services, and 3rd party integrations design, build, test, and deployment . Lead team members, software partners, and technology counterparts in the implementation of architecture solutions at an Enterprise level . Communications and report to all relevant project stakeholders for project progress and issue escalation . Execution against the project schedule and budget . Attend project meetings and presents information as required . Work effectively and efficiently with internal and external technical and business teams . Remain current and grow knowledge of Microsoft .Net, J2EE/Java, XML, SOA, and database technologies . Proactive in identifying and recommending improvement opportunities through analysis and Provide guidance and recommendations for best practices in the design and use of BIG’s technical infrastructure . Contribute to the development of new ideas and methods

Qualifications Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and specialized training; PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt certification is a plus * 8+ years hands-on experience leading medium to large scale and/or enterprise-wide software development projects in Java/J2EE/Unix and .NET/WinTel environments * Experience leading a team of developers, ensuring architecture and design to meet product requirements, and be responsible to deliver high quality products & solutions on time and on budget * Working with Project/Program Management, Analysis, Development, Test, Support and external partners to create and deliver business capabilities in a Rapid Development environment * Extensive knowledge of Web application development including Java, JSP, Servlets, Apache, EJBs, XML, XSLT, ASP.NET, C#.NET, ADO.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VBScript, PL-SQL, and SOA based enterprise application development * Hands on experience developing Web services using Java/J2EE and Microsoft Platforms. * Experience with SOA development principles and implementation * Experience working with relational database management systems and client-server technologies * Experience with Oracle 9i and later, and PL/SQL * Experience with SDLC Methodologies like RUP and Agile * Experience with UML and Use-case tools * Experience with Reporting tools like Business Objects * Experience with Enterprise Applications such as BEA ALUI Portal (Plumtree), Documentum, Interwoven, FAST Search, Siebel CRM, SAP, Oracle Applications is a plus * Experience with Middleware Enterprise Applications like Tibco, Webmethods, MQ Series, is a plus Required Skills: * Demonstrated experience with a Software Development Life Cycle Methodology and information systems development * Ability to partner with customers to identify needs and apply appropriate technical solutions * Develop necessary technical Job Field Systems/Technology Locations US-NY-New York Organization Information & Media Schedule Full-time
