Job Description: Job Summary: Accountable for developing and executing design solutions for assigned projects in the areas of information layout and the users experience with web content. Duties and Responsibilities: Develops and executes interface design solutions including site layouts, navigation design, content inventories, information organization models, error handling and icons to enhance the site branding/look and feel. Assesses product, user research and design requirements and develops recommendations accordingly. Creates designs for test pages, templates and other graphical elements for content and advertising. Develops tests and refines prototypes. Presents and defends designs at key milestones. Accountable for communicating and meeting visual design milestones in overall project plans. Ensures consistency in templates and graphical elements and utilizes site wide color and typeface guidelines. Works with available tech resources to document standards and templates for outside designers and agencies. Analyzes relevant internal and external sites to determine best practices and future trends in visual communications. Works and brainstorms with internal production teams, freelance design teams and agencies. Works with web development staff and project managers as necessary Trains and collaborates with internal freelance teams involving production style, process and development. Manages agencies on project-to-project basis Supports all brand departments, including marketing, programming, ad sales, editorial and core team on a project-to-project basis. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to use common graphic software for website design Working knowledge of user interface and information design principles Knowledge of human cognitive development or response Knowledge of new media technology Knowledge of the web, its design limitations and technical specifications Knowledge of setup and configuration of web applications Knowledge of online coding languages, limitations and expectations including but not limited to XML, HTML, DHTML Basic knowledge of scripting languages including, but not limiting to, Action-Script, JavaScript and AJAX User-centered and conceptual design skills Interpersonal skills Oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups Ability to work under time constraints or to a deadline Ability to manage emergency design issues. Ability to manage work to adhere to critical project timelines Ability to work in Windows and Macintosh platforms Ability to create and present creative ideas Attention to detail Color vision including color discrimination Experience: Bachelor degree in fine arts or computer graphics background and 5+ years of experience in new media design.
