Description The software integration and engineering practice within the Shared Services Hosting organization is responsible for the design, integration, and maintenance of the software infrastructure supporting approximately 200 web-based applications. The majority of the web applications hosted on this platform share the following common attributes: high transaction volume, highly visible and mission critical to the Global Wealth Management Business. These platforms are required to be continuously available on a 24-7-365 basis. The intranet platform includes several portal applications which provide branch operations services for 30 thousand Financial Advisors located in retail branches around the world. The internet web platforms include Smith Barney Access (www.smithbarney.com) which is an award platform serving roughly 8 millions users. This position is for a Sr. System Engineer. * Provide architectural, engineering and integration services to deliver high quality software infrastructure solutions to our application development clients. * Participate in capacity planning & performance tuning of overall web hosting platform. * Enforce, implement and ensure compliance with corporate technology policies, procedures and practices. * Collaborate with senior members of architecture, development and corporate technology infrastructure team for solution design and delivery. * Provide technical leadership and guidance to technical analyst and engineers on various infrastructure projects. * Report project status (including maintaining project dashboards) and issues to designated project manager and senior management. * The candidate will interface with the System Engineers and architects from third-party vendor to develop ‘best in breed’ solution.

Specifications / Qualifications Proven product and application software integration skills (5+ years of experience), especially in the J2EE architecture including web application server experience (preferably WebSphere). The candidate must have extensive experience and knowledge of Internet security issues and practices including certificates, SSL, keystore, PKI (CISSP certification a plus). In-depth hands-on experience and of knowledge of web server, and web proxy technology technologies (Sun Java Web, Proxy and Directory Server Systems preferred) on a UNIX platform (Solaris preferred). The candidate should have architectural and engineering experience working with authentication products like CA Siteminder (preferred) or IBM’s Tivoli Access Management (experience with Federated Identify management solutions a plus). The candidate should also have a good understanding of core network infrastructure devices such as global and local load balancer (F5 3DNS and BIG/IP preferred), firewalls (Checkpoint preferred), routers and switches (Cisco preferred). Additionally, the candidate must have in-depth knowledge of networking and web communications protocols (e.g. OSI, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP1.0, HTTP 1.1, and HTTPS). This position is highly technical in nature; the candidate should have process strong analytic & troubleshooting abilities. The candidate should also be highly organized and efficient, possessing excellent oral and written communication skills. Additionally, it is important that the candidate have good interpersonal traits (i.e. Relationship builder & team player) - able to respond under pressure to many demands in a fast pace and growing organization.
