FeedPoint Sr. Software Engineer Quigo is seeking a FeedPoint Senior Software Engineer to join our search engine marketing technology team in our New York City office. In this role you will serve as FeedPoints primary engineer for client-specific solutions that require custom technology builds. You will lead a work group of more than 5 engineers and work closely with our business groups to understand discreet client objectives and build software to provide solutions within set deadlines. The technology you create will be used first and foremost to serve client needs and increase FeedPoint revenue; secondarily, you may be asked to extend your applications into generic versions that can service a large breadth of customers with similar needs. You will also be responsible for familiarizing yourself with all aspects of our core technology platform so that you can re-use pieces of it for solutions engineering and/or integrate your own applications with the base platform where appropriate. Our core technology includes data crawling and extraction applications, feed-building tools and an array of conversion tracking and reporting software. This is a great opportunity to make an impact quickly while refining your engineering skills in the burgeoning search industry. Responsibilities will include: . Act as technology consult for internal business groups whose clients require tweaks of the FeedPoint core platform . Lead the development teams to design and ensure that the technical solutions adhere to the client requirements using a mix of our existing platform and new code where appropriate . Write scripts, applications, etc. to provide the correct solution for clients and internal business groups . Ensure core technology platform is running smoothly and act as first line of defense if problems arise . Extend your applications flexibility to handle similar solutions for other clients where appropriate and integrate your code into our existing platform Personal Skills: . Self-managed, proactive, problem solving work style and the ability to work independently and in a team environment . Able to evaluate and learn new technologies, applications and skills quickly Management Skills: . 3-5 years of experience in leading software development projects and managing project teams of more than 5 Engineers . Strong ability to lead and "mentor" and develop skills of other Jr. staff members and measure ongoing performance . Ability to comprehend and explain business flow processes and assist in defining project scopes . Ability to set simultaneous projects direction and execute on projects deliverables and work products . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Ability to balance the "importance to the user" with the ROI to the business Engineering Skills: . 9+ years experience applying your engineering skills to business needs . Experience in all phases of product development life cycle, including requirements definitions (SPECs), development, testing procedures, product release and sustaining engineering . Strong knowledge of Object Oriented analysis and design concepts (UML experience - a plus) . Significant background in the following: application servers, web servers and distributed or load balanced systems . Good database understanding (Oracle environment): Schema design, performance tuning - a plus . Ability to evaluate, select and implement 3rd party packages through APIs, file downloads, or http requests, parse information and insert into relevant areas of our database . It is required to have 7+ years of knowledge/experience of the following: o Written significant pieces with in PL/SQL, Java and Perl (additional languages - a plus) in both UNIX and Windows Environment o Ability to write scripts that parse large data files and reformat them. o Strong proficiency in client/server coding o Strong working knowledge of XML, threads, Web Services and debugging practices o Experience with tools such as: CVS (version control), Eclipse, SQL Tools, argoUML, testing tools (additional tools - a plus) o Ability to set cron jobs for routine data manipulation and create schemes to handle errors and retries o Front End capabilities (jsp, servelts, struts etc.) - major plus Other Requirements: . Education: BS, MS or PhD in computer science, information systems engineering or other strongly related field (or equivalent experience) . A huge plus will be familiarity with data mining; Contextual Advertising; online marketing campaigns, promotions, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) .
