More information about this job: Overview: KIPP NYC is the family of all KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) programming in New York City and includes four KIPP public middle schools (KIPP Academy, KIPP STAR, KIPP AMP, and KIPP Infinity) designed to teach students to develop the academic and character skills necessary for success in high school and college, to be self-sufficient in the competitive world beyond, and to build a better tomorrow for themselves and us all (www.kippnyc.org). The Speech-Language Pathologist will split time among three KIPP NYC schools (KIPP Academy, KIPP STAR, and KIPP Infinity) based on the needs of their respective students. The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.

Responsibilities: KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future. General responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • Collaborating with KIPP NYC teachers and principals to develop specific objectives for individual students based on Individualized Education Plans and current levels of achievement. • Maintaining records of the speech-language program and preparing periodic reports as required. • Conducting speech, language, and hearing screenings. • Administering ongoing formal and informal assessments to measure and determine students' needs. • Planning evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students. • Adjusting intervention strategies based upon student performance. • Presenting information to KIPP NYC school staff about language, speech, and hearing disorders as they relate to communication and learning. • Collaborating and communicating with teachers to learn of students' progress within the classroom. • Presenting information to families about language, speech, and hearing development.

Qualifications: • Zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor :). • A passion for the mission of KIPP NYC. • A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture. • A strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and family. • Master's degree in speech-language pathology. • License and current registration to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State. • Demonstrated success in working with traditionally under-served students. • At least one year of experience preferred.
