Description: The ITDMG Senior Software Engineer is responsible for back-end development related to the Digital Library applications in use (Artesia TEAMS, Stellent Xpedio, and Interwoven TeamSite). The Senior-Level Engineer must have previous experience in the development, architecture, and administration of digital asset management (DAM) systems, including a solid understanding of metadata schemas, metadata models, taxonomies, vocabulary terms, customizations, and project workflows. We are not looking for a generic Java developer - were looking for someone who enjoys and specializes in digital asset management and wants to pursue DAM for the long haul. In addition to the technical aspects of their job, Engineers at this level lead teams of developers, share best practices pertaining to application development, manage project deliverables, mentor junior colleagues, and write well-structured, clear, and thorough documentation. This role will be participating in gathering requirements, determining high-level solutions, and authoring the technical components (Use Cases, Functional Requirements, and Technical Requirements) for the project. This position will be developing assigned areas of code following coding and design standards. This role will be creating and documenting the overall technical architecture used for a project. This function will be contributing estimates, advice, and progress reports to help in project planning. This function will be providing day-to-day project management of the development phases of projects. This individual will be working closely with others in a project team to help advise designers and other creative people on the limitations or opportunities in the technology. This role will be developing prototypes to test particular approaches that have not been proven. This individual will be testing all aspects of systems from the presentation layer to back-end systems.

Individuals at this level must posses a strong knowledge of all aspects of enterprise software development, including client-server, database, and application integration. BSC/BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field. At least four years of experience in software development are required, at least 2 of which were focused on development for digital asset management systems. At least 2 years experience with Client/Server development is needed. At least 2 years experience with the following programming languages and technologies: Java/J2EE, JSP, XML, SQL, HTML/DHTML and Web Services. Experience with Oracle, Solaris, and Linux. Additional experience with PERL, JavaScript, Cold Fusion, ASP, COM/DCOM, and Stellents iDOC script is a plus. Demonstrable expertise in the successful development and implementation of digital asset management database schemas, table structures, metadata schemas, metadata models, taxonomies, vocabulary terms, JSP customizations, and project workflows is required. Experience with third-party software, digital media, and mobile content compatibility issues and file formats (QuickTime, iTunes, Podcasts, cellular phone content) is required. Experience with third-party Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Interwoven TeamSite, is needed. An ability to objectively analyze problems, raise questions, and present a range of potential and creative solutions.
