Reporting to the Facilities Director the Small Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of contracted projects with an estimated cost of a $100,000 or less; on occasion, the Small Project Manager may be assigned projects with an estimated value up to $300,000. The duties and responsibilities of the Small Project Manager include: Meeting with service users to develop scope of work for the repair or renovation project; preparing, issuing, reviewing and processing bids, RFPs / RFQs, etc.; preparing project schedules, cost estimates, reports and other project coordinating / managing contactors, utility shutdowns, space access, project closeout activities, etc. The SMP will have limited responsibility coordinating the trades.
Qualifications Ideal candidates will possess a four year technical degree with 2 years related experience preferred. Minimum education and experience requirements: 2 year degree or equivalent military / union based technical training with completion of 5 years related experience; ten years of related experience may be substituted for 2 years of formal technical trainings. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple projects; must be organized with attention to details; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; interpersonal skills; experience in higher ed or healthcare desired. Military commissioned service as public works or maintenance officer with 3 years private/ public sector experience is preferred. Experience working with in a contract-managed environment is desired. Experience and training in building mechanical system (HVAC boiler / chiller operation) highly desirable.
