ABCNews.com is seeking a Senior News Designer - Applicant will work with developers, news editors and advertisers to create multimedia content and news graphics for abcnews.com and ABC News Now, an online news cable network. - Intimate knowledge of DHTML and actionscript; familiarity with JavaScript – understanding how templates work: comps translate to code then code translate to comps. - Familiarity with interface design/UI/UX. Work with vendors, create slideshows, interactive storytelling, maps and charts, photo-news illustrations - On Air broadcast duties include creating full screen graphics, maps, quotes, and charts. - The qualified candidate must be a detail oriented individual with ability to handle tight deadlines, work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects. A strong interest in the news is essential. - Working hour schedule will vary according with news events and coverage. - Senior designer work on site development for daily, short and long term projects for the News division – to say that you either will work on projects creating rich media front/back-end projects for Editorial. Ability to work with clients and define work process for them. Help them understand process of mockups, revisions and scheduling for projects.

Skills: - Fluency with all major digital tools, ability to create html, vector graphics, imaging and eye for typography are essential. - A clear visual aesthetic, excellent organizational skills, understanding of information design, conceptual and creative thinking. - Strong news judgment on selecting images and creating photo illustrations that illustrate stories on news website. - Fluency of known web graphics tools (Adobe Suite CS3). - Ability to edit photos, familiarity with image licensing and rights protected work. Requirements: - A minimum 8 years experience designing and producing visual information content in a team-based web news environment. - Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required. News background is essential for this position. - A professional able to handle multiple priorities with various deadlines
