Description: Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper for Boutique NYC Law Firm
Boutique NYC Law Firm specializing in non profit organizations and charities seeks an accomplished, full scale accounting professional to 65K plus bonus to report directly to the Finance Director. This high exposure and autonomous role will play a key role in the financial and accounting operations for the firm. The well qualified candidate will possess a degree Accounting, relevant accounting experience in a law firm or professional services environment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with PerfectLaw or a similar accounting software strongly preferred.
Primary responsibilities: Client Accounting - time & cost data entry; billing & adjustments; cash receipts; accounts receivable management; collections; month-end closing; management reporting; client inquiries; master file maintenance; client escrow accounting; filing & storage; and special projects as required. General Accounting - banking (deposits, wire transfers, stop payments); payroll & related taxes; accounts payable; vendor inquiries; cash disbursements (incl. demand checks); petty cash; general ledger maintenance; journal entries; bank reconciliations; assist with budgets; filing & storage; master file maintenance; 1099 reporting; and special projects as required.
Qualifications: Four-year college degree in Accounting and two years of progressively responsible related work experience. Prior experience in a law office or executive office setting; Strong computer skills preferably in a fully integrated/automated accounting system environment. Excel and Word a must; Excellent writing and communication skills; Well-organized, with the ability to manage various assignments at once; Demonstrated record of reliability and ability to exercise good judgment; Very organized and detailed oriented; Experience with PerfectLaw a plus;
