Job Description Senior Editorial technical specialist professional to support the engineering and information technology groups at its key client New York location. The Senior Editorial technical specialist position calls for a highly self-motivated individual with broad expertise in all areas of computer, network and telecommunication technologies. Although the job requires a dedicated, hands on and proactive approach to keeping the real time news operation center up and running, this position also requires someone familiar with leadership skills that can regularly work within a tightly knit team of first level technicians and help desk specialists. The role also requires Customer-facing experience and the ability to self-manage as the position is remote from direct management. Minimum experience (amount and type) 5 or more years working as a 2nd/3rd level support engineer, with experience with Microsoft products, specifically :- Active Directory, Exchange, Windows Server ( 2003, 2000), Windows XP, Windows 2000, Office Products. Current MCSE required Familiar with server virtualization, thin client, MPLS, VOIP, and VPN technology. Knowledge of ITIL is a plus. Firewall experience desired (Checkpoint and Juniper/Netscreen preferred) Cisco experience an advantage/ Desirable Any Unix experience an advantage/Desirable Educational Requirements Undergraduate degree or higher required Technical and/or Functional skills - Mandatory Strong background in Microsoft technologies, Microsoft Active Directory knowledge ,Servers, Desktops Familiar with WAN and LAN networking , TCP/IP, DNS, Cisco routers and switches, routing protocols, Network architecture and topologies. Solid working knowledge of Internet security and Firewalls, Intranet and server environments, Wireless technologies experience is required. (Ability to configure and deploy such devices a big plus). Any experience with any flavour of UNIX(Sun Solaris preferred) is a big plus. Customer-facing experience essential, as is the ability to form working relationships with the customer and to deliver world-class service. This role will involve working closely with the customer and Service provider Partners Ability to prioritise workload, be pro-active and self motivating, as the direct management will be located remotely. Useful Additional Skills. Knowledge of Reuters products including Triarch, 3000Xtra, ReutersStation and experience or any market data system a plus Exchange/Outlook and Blackberry experience Exposure to UNIX ( any flavour) but HP/Sun experience highly desired Experience of Project Management an advantage . Key responsibilities Manage a real time production environment, using Microsoft Active Directory, Wintel servers and network consisting of cisco routers and switches, Nortel and Cisco VPN, Checkpoint and Netscreen firewalls. Manage production systems for Reuters Editorial including WireEngine, FATs, Market Data systems, Decade/S77 etc. Provide 2nd/3rd level support for all system equipments, production systems, and firewalls. Lead/implement technical projects based on business requirements and priorities. Work with global helpdesk and other resolver groups to resolve incidents. Professional licenses, if any MCSE required CCNA, Network security certification highly desired. Other skills and abilities Exceptionally good customer facing skills, writing and verbal communication skills to manage demanding users in a high-pressure production environment a must. . MUST be authorized to work within the United States . MUST provide salary request in the provided field .
