This person is responsible for understanding specific Pearson Curriculum products in-depth (from both a curriculum and a technical perspective) and helping sales representatives become proficient in matching customer needs to curriculum product solutions. This position communicates regularly with Product Managers and keeps up-to-date on new product features and marketing tools. This individual also serves as a regional marketing expert by keeping current with regional sales and marketing opportunities and challenges. In cooperation with the District Sales Manager, this person executes a variety of sales and marketing activities in accordance with the regional sales action plan. In certain situations (such as when working with newly hired sales representatives), this person may perform product demonstrations and handle more technical customer conversations as needed, but this position is primarily focused on ensuring that the sales representatives have the right skills and tools to handle product demonstrations effectively on their own. SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB Dollar responsibilities (budget and/or revenue) No individual sales goal; assists sales representatives throughout the region reach their targets Expense budget allocated by District Sales Manager (typically $15,000-$20,000 per year) Supervisory responsibilities (direct and indirect) None
Primary responsibilities include (listed in order of priority with approximate time spent on each activity): Mentoring/Training Sales Representatives (30%%) Mentoring sales representatives on product presentations Preparing and conducting regional sales training sessions based upon Pearson Academy curriculum materials produced by the marketing department Developing/Disseminating Knowledge Pertinent to Regional Sales Success (20%%) Serving as the regional expert on specific Pearson Curriculum products and on curriculum in general Maintaining regional awareness of market trends, educational issues, and funding opportunities Keeping up with product development details and relaying key information to the field Understanding Pearson Curriculum resources available to sales and helping representatives get the highest benefit from the support processes in place (particularly marketing dept. support) Regional Marketing Planning, Support and Special Projects (30%%) Handling regional marketing projects as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager (e.g. eBus, Conferences/Exhibits, Best Practices initiatives, customer meetings, etc.) Contributing to the development of regional marketing strategies Writing/editing grants and grant support materials; writing/editing regional marketing documents as needed Working with Customers and Prospects in the Field (20%%) Delivering product demonstrations for customers and prospects in the field Monitoring the usage and effectiveness of Pearson Curriculum products in schools to maximize potential for renewal business The individual in this position should have one or more of the following: Successful experience as a Pearson Trainer or comparable outside experience as an educational consultant, specialist, and/or teacher Experience in educational marketing and/or educational sales support Experience in education sales, preferably technology-related Formal education or equivalent College Degree (minimum: Bachelors degree); preferably in education or marketing-related field or equivalent professional experience in related industry Skills and Attributes This person must have a solid understanding of K-8 instructional issues, content areas, and technology integration challenges and opportunities. This person must have a deep understanding of how to assist teachers to more effectively utilize technology in the classroom. This person must know how local area networks operate and be capable of setting up PDL products for test/pilot purposes in customer sites. Outstanding, dynamic presentation skills are crucial. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also a must. Strategic thinking and problem solving skills along with a steep learning curve will help ensure success in this position. Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) are required. It is essential that the individual in this position be conscientious, focused, organized and detail-oriented. A professional yet friendly attitude, the ability to multi-task and switch focus, as well as a self-motivated mindset and approach will enhance the candidates ability to perform well and grow within this service-oriented company. The ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a team round out the requirements for the successful candidate. Ability and willingness to travel required (position requires 60-70%% travel or approximately 3 to 3.5 days per week).
