Description: RN - Occupational Health Nurse Job Category: Nurses Business Unit: Location: New York NY Job Type: Regular Employment Type: Part Time Thu Sep 11 10:08:59 EDT 2008 Concentra is seeking to hire a RN for part time, weekend shift in the New York City area to provide weekend support for our On-Site Occupational Health Clinic in Lower Manhattan. Current RN license and CPR certification is required. Experience in ER, urgent care or occupational health preferred. Requires good customer service, communication and computer skills. Basic responsibilities will be to promote health, prevent disease, and help employees cope with illness. Will be advocates and health educators for employees and families. When providing direct patient care, will observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress in patients. The RNs also develop and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and their families in proper care, and help individuals and groups take steps to improve or maintain their health. JOB SUMMARY Provides nursing and first aid services to employees or persons who are ill or injured on the clients premises in accordance with Concentra policies, practices, and procedures and applicable regulations to achieve objectives of occupational health and safety services. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct care, including treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses using established medical protocols Assesses non-occupational illnesses to determine the need for immediacy of treatment and give guidance to seek care from personal health care provider(s). Maintains medical records, prepares accident reports and insurance forms. Develops and implements employee programs, such as health education, accident prevention, and wellness programs Collaborates with management and the Occupational & Environmental Health staff to carry out the objectives of the occupational health and safety services. Collaborates in the design of controls for injury/illness prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the workplace. Collects and analyzes data to establish health priorities and interventions. Provides initial assessment of on-the-job injuries and illnesses and refers for further evaluation as necessary. Provides health-related counseling for employees within scope of nursing knowledge and practice. Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of employee health information and medical records. Conducts workplace assessments and exposure follow up. Provides occupational health surveillance testing including pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, vision screening, etc. Assumes responsibility for own professional development and continuing education. Performs other duties, as assigned. JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE: 1-year experience in occupational health nursing preferred.

Customer and personal service knowledge including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of employer specific equipment, including computer software Reading comprehension. Operation and control of client equipment or systems as related to on-site nursing. Monitoring to make improvements or take corrective action. Knowledge of human behavior and performance. Time management; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Computer literacy, ability to work with computerized systems and applications Ability to work independently. Judgment and decision-making, skills. Active listening, skills. Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors, peers, or customers. Problem sensitivity. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
