Citi Investment Research is seeking a Research Assistant for the (Oil production & exploration) Insurance industry. The more analytical duties of this position will include overseeing databases of industry facts and trends, creating and updating financial models, updating comparative valuation models, and producing accurate, thorough and creative content for frequent research notes, publications and presentations. On the administrative side, responsibilities will include uploading data to Citigroup information systems, downloading and gathering raw data for analysis, and responding to client requests. Working with a large team of professionals, this position will provide the candidate with an opportunity to learn the equity research industry.

Specifications / Qualifications * The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in finance or commerce or a related field, with some knowledge of financial accounting. * One to two years of prior work experience is preferred, but not required. * The successful candidate for this position must have excellent writing, mathematical, spreadsheet and computer skills; further, the candidate should be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. * Preferred background in insurance, actuarial, or rating agency. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. The ability to quickly pick up new systems and data programs is essential. A working knowledge of accounting and experience in building financial models is a plus. * Progress toward securities licensing and professional development is also a plus. Most importantly, the candidate should be proactive and resourceful, with both a positive attitude and strong work ethic. * The position demands natural intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and the flexibility to handle multiple research assignments simultaneously. The ideal candidate will also need to be able to prioritize and work well under pressure, as daily news flow and unplanned projects arise frequently. Ability to work well with other team members is also essential. * Ability to work over-time and on weekends, if needed. * Knowledge of the energy industry is an asset.
