Responsibilities This sales management position exists to provide leadership and direction to a team of sales professionals toward meeting company objectives in the areas of new sales revenue, retention revenue, growth of base business and market penetration. Accountabilities: 1. Meet or exceed sales revenue objectives 2. Achieve expense control objectives 3. Develop key contacts and business relationships with members of the business unit and key support providers within the LexisNexis organization 4. Develop and deliver an effective branch business plans, including accurate revenue forecasts 5. Thorough identification of competitive threats and development of effective countermeasures 6. Ensure skills of our sales professionals are in line with the demands of the marketplace and company sales objectives, including product knowledge, key process knowledge, knowledge of the competition, sales techniques, relationship building, making effective sales presentations and negotiation skills 7. Translate company and departmental sales objectives into sales programs and initiatives 8. Attract, recruit, and retain top talent. Motivate and lead a high performance sales team. 9. Provide leadership and management to ensure adoption and practice of the Reed Elsevier core values. 10. Define measurable expectations of each role within the branch. Evaluate performance against expectations of all staff. 11. Interact with customers and prospect positively and with added value. Maintain relationships with "key" accounts. 12. Other duties as assigned Qualifications 1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience 2. 7 or more years of successful sales experience in solutions-oriented sales environment 3. 5 or more years of proven sales leadership and management experience 4. Strong leadership and team building skills 5. In depth industry knowledge and the ability to quickly develop an in depth understanding of LN products and services 6. Understanding and expertise in computer hardware and software including Windows XP, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and the Internet 7. Strong time management, organizational and forecasting skills 8. Experience working in a highly complex matrixed corporate environment 9. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills 10. Solid negotiation skills and the ability to network effectively both internally and externally. 11. Deep understanding of Strategic Selling, Value selling, Team Selling, and CRM systems (Siebel is preferred) 12. Strong business and financial acumen This is a home based position. Preferred location is NYC or Washington DC Other Information The preferred level of education for this position is Bachelors Level Degree. The preferred years of experience for this position is 7 years.
