More information about this job: Overview: the production manager is responsible for managing kate spades production relationship with our vendors based in china and/or italy

Responsibilities: - working with pd, to ensure that all raw materials are tested and approved as well as all groups and specs - ensure that details are confirmed for final pass off to factory - running seasonal production calendars to decide if raw materials need to be projected or factory capacity reserved so that we are on schedule to ship product via sea - finalize group detail sheets (gds) that we submit to the factories to issue specific direction on all aspects of the bags make, including body material, trim, lining, thread and hardware - checking all specs and ensuring that there are no oversights prior to submission to the factories - review all final details of product with PD and the factories for placement of bulk raw materials - work with the sales division to finalize orders in the sewn system - work with south china office to ensure that all source orders are entered into the sewn system - responsible for final negotiation & review of costing to ensure that we are hitting margin targets and the controller is updated with margin updates by season - work with factories to ensure that all packaging and labeling are ordered from lci vendors to meet lci specifications as per the vendor manual - updating sales teams on current production deliveries by group weekly and advising factories of air/sea breakdowns if necessary - responsible for final review of all pre-production samples. this review takes place with design and all comments are issued to the factory by style. In addition, the team is responsible for communicating all changes to final product to the quality control team, so they will know what to inspect while they are reviewing product in the factories - responsible for all special projects and working with design, merchandising & the factories to produce short lead time deliveries as necessary.

Qualifications: - proficient in windows-based software such as excel and word - strong proficiency in utilization of database software - strong ability to manipulate data for efficient analysis - demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow through on all aspects of responsibility - ability to multitask and focus in a busy atmosphere - comfortable with working on a team - ability to demonstrate flexibility - excellent time management and communication skills education and experience required: - minimum 3 years experience in a comparable environment - college degree
